Ready for Take-Off: This flying supercar rolls out in 2026

 In Aviation, Cars

Is that a car with wings? Yes, it can fly and drive on regular roads. And according to its founders, the Klein Vision’s AirCar will be certified and ready for sale by Q1 2026

In a way, this is the future we were promised — somewhere between The Jetsons and a 1950s pulp sci-fi cover — is finally taxiing onto the runway. Klein Vision’s AirCar, a real, road-ready sports coupe that converts into an actual airplane, is preparing for liftoff into the consumer market by early 2026. And unlike so many other “flying cars” that never got off the ground (figuratively or literally), this one has already completed intercity flights — and even earned accolades from aviation legends.

A Flying Car… That Actually Flies

Developed in Slovakia by visionary engineer Stefan Klein and entrepreneur Anton Zajac, the AirCar is no mere fantasy. Since its maiden flight in 2021, the prototype has logged over 170 hours of flight time and more than 500 takeoffs and landings. It drives like a sleek GT on the road — then transforms into a small aircraft with the push of a button. The wings fold out. The tail extends. Within minutes, you’re airborne.

It’s not a drone or an eVTOL. This is a proper car, and a proper airplane. And soon, you’ll be able to buy it — if you’ve got $800,000 to $1 million to spare.

From Garage to Runway

The AirCar’s second-generation prototype, scheduled to fly this fall, is 200 kg (440 lbs) lighter thanks to advanced composites and boasts a 620-mile flight range, plus 500 miles on the road. Powered by a FADEC-equipped aircraft engine from Adept and featuring Garmin avionics, it’s also autopilot ready. After 50 hours of test flights, it’s expected to receive an EASA airworthiness certificate, opening the door for European sales. North America and Asia are next.

Think of it as the next evolution in personal transportation — a car that lets you skip the airport and fly from your backyard to your beach house.

Not the First, but Possibly the First That Matters

Flying cars have existed before. The Taylor Aerocar in the 1950s flirted with production. Others like the PAL-V Liberty, Samson Switchblade, and Alef Model A are in various stages of development today. But few have made it past the prototype phase, let alone flown between cities, under their own certification path, with real commercial potential.

The AirCar is poised to be the first truly roadable, certified flying car to hit the market in 75 years.

Who’s It For?

According to Zajac, this isn’t just a toy for billionaires or a museum piece — though it wouldn’t look out of place in either. Klein Vision envisions a customer base of well-heeled commuters, tech-forward pilots, and adventurous travelers eager to explore new horizons, quite literally. It’s for the person who wants to leave work, skip the traffic, and be at their lakehouse in 45 minutes — no airport, no TSA, no wasted time.

More Than a Car. More Than a Plane.

At a recent gala in Beverly Hills, Klein Vision was awarded a Special Recognition Award for Engineering Excellence at the 2025 Living Legends of Aviation — one of the industry’s highest honors. It’s a sign that the AirCar is not only real, but respected.

As Klein himself puts it:

“The AirCar fulfills a lifelong dream to bring the freedom of flight into the hands of everyday people. With the launch of our production prototype, we are one step closer to transforming how the world moves—merging the road and the sky into a new dimension of personal mobility.”

Will It Fly?

The world has every reason to be skeptical — and yet, every reason to be excited. The AirCar is more than a prototype, more than a render, more than a dream. It’s a machine that drives off the lot and takes off from the tarmac.

Whether you see it as a technological breakthrough, a collector’s trophy, or the coolest commute ever, one thing’s for sure:

The sky is no longer the limit.
