Some of the smaller producers have done very well, making some of the bigger brands sit up and take notice. In an understandable and necessary change to tradition, the 2020 World Whiskies Awards were revealed on 26 March, not in the wonderful surroundings of the Honourable Artillery Company, London, but through social media and Whisky Magazine.
The shortlist of country winners was announced on 5 February, after the final tasting which was attended by more than 50 industry experts and included, for the first time, the presentation of the Icons of Whisky Rest of World winners.
