AUDI EV – A NEW STANDALONE BRAND FOR THE CHINESE MARKET
Audi is redefining its presence in China with the launch of a new electric-focused sub-brand, AUDI, in partnership with SAIC. Distinct from the iconic four rings, AUDI aims to merge Audi’s signature DNA with innovations tailored for the Chinese market. The centerpiece of this venture is the AUDI E concept, a Sportback showcasing cutting-edge technology, design, and performance that exceed the expectations of China’s tech-savvy and younger premium consumers.
The AUDI E concept exemplifies “Vorsprung durch Technik” with dual electric motors delivering 570 kW and 800 Nm, quattro all-wheel drive, and acceleration from 0-100 km/h in 3.6 seconds. A 100-kWh battery enables a range of 700 km (CLTC), while its 800-volt architecture offers ultra-fast charging—370 km in just 10 minutes. Its minimalist yet dynamic design features smooth arches, wrap-around lighting, and an elongated roofline for spacious interiors.
Inside, the cabin combines Audi’s renowned comfort with a futuristic, connected experience. Features include a curved 4K pillar-to-pillar touchscreen, digital exterior mirrors, and materials blending traditional Chinese aesthetics with modern technology. Highlights like illuminated wood doors and microfiber lamella design reflect a seamless integration of luxury and innovation. Advanced digital systems, such as the AUDI OS and an AI-powered AUDI Assistant, deliver personalized and intuitive interactions for all passengers.
The AUDI E concept is built on the Advanced Digitized Platform, which combines Audi’s engineering expertise with SAIC’s rapid innovation and market insights. This collaboration reduces time-to-market by 30%, with the first production models set for 2025 in the B and C segments.
AUDI’s debut underscores Audi’s commitment to shaping the future of premium mobility in China, building on its pioneering entry into the market in 1988. By addressing the unique demands of Chinese consumers, such as leading-edge connectivity and automated driving, Audi is poised to further expand its battery electric vehicle portfolio and redefine the premium automotive landscape in the world’s largest market.
