IMMERSIVE CADILLAC EV DESIGN EXPERIENCE
On September 25th, we followed an invitation from Cadillac Canada to view their current and upcoming lineup of EVs at the Cadillac Live Studio in Sterling Heights, MI. This event also included a preview of their much-anticipated ultra-luxury electric flagship, the CELESTIQ sedan, at Cadillac House in Warren, MI.
Upon arrival at the very secretive Cadillac Live Studio, Mike Speranzini, Managing Director of Cadillac Canada, welcomed the guests and introduced several of Cadillac’s Head Designers and managers, who provided insights into the vehicles on display. Among them were the in-market LYRIQ, the upcoming small electric crossover SUV, OPTIQ, and the first-ever electric Escalade, the ESCALADE IQ, which impressed with its estimated range of up to 724 km.
The true highlights, however, came later at the Cadillac House, where the CELESTIQ awaited alongside the stunning coach-built luxury electric convertible concept, the SOLLEI. The Celestiq, blending design elements from Cadillac’s past with advanced high-tech systems that point to the brand’s future, will be hand-built by a small team of craftspeople and tailored to each customer’s personal specifications. It will be Cadillac’s most technologically advanced electric vehicle, with features such as five advanced LED HD interactive displays tailored to the needs of every occupant, an industry-first fixed Smart Glass roof, ClimateSense™ individualized four-zone microclimate system, advanced All-Wheel Drive, Adaptive Air Suspension with Magnetic Ride Control, Active Rear Steering and Cadillac-first Active Roll Control.
The SOLLEI , presented in an absolutely stunning colour combination reminiscent of Cadillac’s vibrant heritage, was developed on the same Ultium electric vehicle platform as the CELESTIQ.
“SOLLEI reimagines the discovery of travel, envisioning a personalized driving experience that connects one with the natural world around them. The concept celebrates Cadillac’s pedigree of elegant convertibles in a modern form by cultivating high luxury through design expressions and experiences.” — Erin Crossley, design director, Cadillac.
After conversations with the Cadillac team, we are left with little doubt that a limited production run may happen at some point. We certainly hope so!
