Louis Vuitton Unveils Le Café Louis Vuitton in New York

New York, NY — November 2024
Louis Vuitton is expanding its signature blend of artistry and luxury into the culinary world with the opening of Le Café Louis Vuitton, located on the fourth floor of the brand’s temporary flagship at 6 East 57th Street. This marks the first U.S. location of the celebrated café concept, blending the maison’s French heritage with New York’s vibrant culinary culture.

This café offers more than just a meal—it’s a “luxury snacking” experience, featuring dishes that are as visually stunning as they are indulgent. Helmed by executive chef Christophe Bellanca and executive pastry chef Mary George, the menu combines quintessential French flair with locally sourced ingredients.

A Menu That Redefines “Luxury Snacking”

Le Café Louis Vuitton presents an eclectic mix of refined comfort food and culinary artistry. Highlights include the Le Croque Louis Paris, made with whole wheat bread, comté cheese, white ham, and black truffle, and monogrammed waffles filled with caviar, crème fraîche, and chives. For heartier fare, diners can enjoy a six-ounce burger with French fries, a lobster roll, or a modern twist on the classic Caesar salad.

Seafood lovers can savor a steamed scallop soufflé enhanced with caviar and Champagne beurre blanc, or the braised black bass served with vongole bouillon. Adventurous palates may gravitate toward the truffle ravioli embossed with Louis Vuitton’s signature flower monogram or the Poularde Rôtie, paired with Japanese curry and heirloom carrots.

For dessert, the café elevates classics with creative touches, such as a pear tart roasted with spices and encased in buttery pastry. The Jardin Sundae reinvents the PB&J sandwich, featuring Concord grapes and sunflower seeds for a nut-free twist.

“We wanted to showcase French savoir-faire while celebrating the incredible ingredients we have access to locally,” Bellanca explained. “Every bite offers a unique balance of refinement and approachability.”

A Space for Discovery

Le Café Louis Vuitton boasts a warm, intimate setting with seating for 64. The ceiling is adorned with hundreds of LV leather luggage tags, while bookshelves stocked with 600 curated titles—including 35% Louis Vuitton Editions—encourage guests to linger.

The café also features a cozy bar seating six, ideal for enjoying coffee or cocktails while browsing books on design, travel, and art. New York inspirations, including works by Stephen Sprouse and Jeff Koons, add a local flair to the space.

Sustainability at Its Core

Sustainability plays a pivotal role in the café’s operations. The kitchen minimizes plastic use, opting for reusable stainless-steel tasting spoons and locally sourced ingredients. Bellanca highlighted the importance of supporting local farmers, sourcing everything from butter in Vermont to poultry from Pennsylvania and citrus from New Jersey.

A Seamless Blend of Culinary and Artistic Vision

French culinary maestros Arnaud Donckele and Maxime Frédéric shaped the concept for Le Café Louis Vuitton, mentoring Bellanca and George to create a menu that reflects the maison’s global ethos while staying true to New York’s culinary soul.

“We want every Louis Vuitton café to embody a subtle touch of French spirit while offering something uniquely local,” said Frédéric.
