New to the Grid – Cadillac Formula 1
Cadillac is preparing for a landmark moment in motorsport as it readies its Formula 1® debut at the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne on March 8. Marking a major milestone, General Motors has unveiled a Special Edition testing livery for the Cadillac Formula 1® Team at GM’s new global headquarters in Detroit, ahead of its on-track debut during the all-team Shakedown Week in Barcelona from January 26–30.
Developed through a cross-continental collaboration between GM Global Design and the Cadillac Formula 1® Team, the testing livery is purpose-built for pre-season development. In true Formula 1 tradition, it uses bold yet restrained graphic elements to disguise aerodynamic details while still projecting a strong brand identity—signalling Cadillac’s arrival on the world’s most competitive motorsport stage.
Rooted in Detroit’s design heritage, the monochrome livery features a modern interpretation of Cadillac’s iconic crest and shield, paired with precision geometric patterns that balance elegance with function. The design also acknowledges the transatlantic effort behind the program, with the names of the founding team members from the United States and the UK subtly incorporated into the car.
The Special Edition testing livery will give way to the official 2026 Formula 1® race livery, set to be unveiled on February 8, offering fans their first look at the design that will compete throughout the season. As anticipation builds toward Barcelona, the race livery reveal, and the season-opening Australian Grand Prix, Cadillac’s entry into Formula 1® marks a defining moment for the brand—and a significant chapter for American motorsport on the global stage.
